camponotus fragilis formicarium

Aug 28

Colony in a more comfortable setup. The box has a magnetic clasp at the top so they can be in peace and darkness most of the time. It also has foam at the bottom and on the front "door" so hopefully they are less disturbed. To the right of the box is a heating pad on a piece of glass that reaches the back corner of the formicarium. I was going to heat the whole side but I think they like having that increased temperature range and I feel better about them running less risk of overheating. I put the heat mat on a piece of glass so it would not rest directly on the flamable box but it also has the added advantage of allowing me to move it around depending on the colony's needs.
